MIUI 12: Everything you want to know.

The wait is over! Xiaomi have launched MIUI 12. Last year, they launched MIUI 11. MIUI 11 was a global release supporting worldwide devices having Android 9 and 10. This year Xiaomi brings new features and upgrades with MIUI 12. Let’s start exploring MIUI 12 in brief, which devices will it support, when it has a global release, etc.

In MIUI 11, significant changes were Battery Optimization and Visuals. As, Xiaomi released its successor MIUI 12 beta mode in China on April 27, 2020. Well, it has been only a few months since MIUI 11 launched globally, supporting Android 9 and 10 devices. Xiaomi has started it working on MIUI 12. Xiaomi will offer significant changes in MIUI 12. 

Previously, Xiaomi was considered a tortoise in the name of upgrades and updates. As it always gave slow updates, now the market will change for Xiaomi in upcoming days. Xiaomi was preparing to launch MIUI 12 globally. The official announcement took on May 19, 2020. Xiaomi has already started to give updates to China devices. The Xiaomi Company has already given the list of devices that will get upgraded to MIUI 12, along with dates. 

What is MIUI 12?

MIUI 12 is custom ROM, which is based on the Android OS for Redmi and Mi phones. In simpler words, MIUI 12 is an upgraded version of your Android Operating System with countless customizations choices. MIUI 12 will be legit upgrade to your devices. MIUI12 will have features like Dark Mode 2.0, AI Calling, etc.

Super Wallpapers & Animated AOD:

Xiaomi is going to bring new “Super wallpapers.” Users can set individual planets as their super wallpaper. The exciting thing about it is that users can examine and set any part of the planet as their wallpapers as well as animated Always-on Display(AOD). Right now, Earth and Mars planet are available. We can expect further planets in future updates all well. We can relate it with Google Earth as it resembles with it.

Perfect Dark Mode 2.0:

Xiaomi brings Dark Mode 2.0. It offers a standard dark mode feature, which includes high color saturation. With Automatic brightness, Font adjustments, and Reducing Contrast to reduce eyes strain during reading time. MIUI 11 have already a dark mode, but users weren’t entirely satisfied. Here, new MIUI 12 will bring exciting features that will help the user in the night or during reading. MIUI 12 will make system applications work better with optimized dark mode.

Xiaomi is taking the security and privacy of users data very seriously these days. Xiaomi brings a feature when an application wants to access a camera or location; a message box will pop up whether to allow or deny it. Permissions accessed by an application will be shown to you.

Xiaomi also added a feature where the system provides a blank data to any apps that request access data. This feature will provide data breaching fro vicious apps. it is similar to Apple’s “Sign-in with Apple.”

Xiaomi brings excellent multitasking support with MIUI 12. In MIUI 11, many apps and games didn’t support split-screen feature. This feature will allow you to use apps in float mode. 

AI Phone Assistant:

MIUI 12 brings AI Phone Assistant feature with it. The AI Phone Assistant feature will be similar to Google screen calls. It is mainly designed for hearing abilities. According to the Xiaomi company, this feature responded to 4 million calls in China in the last six months.

New System Animations:

Users find animations and design way too attractive. For months, Xiaomi was working on the framework. And they came up with a framework called “MIUI Light Cone Motion Effect Architecture.” It comes with two engines: Rendering Engine and Physical Engine.

  • Rendering Engine

It allows shadows and real-word light, advanced interface color mixing, real-time bur, smooth rounded corners, G2 curvature all over the UI.

  • Physical Engine

It is related to enhanced system animations. Here the animations and more realistic and smooth. Users are allowed to close an app while half-way while opening it.

Xiaomi will celebrate the 10th anniversary, while re-releasing old generation classic themes. Classic themes have a separate AOD section. 

Health Tracker:

Xiaomi is releasing a new health app with MIUI 12. Health app will record users data about walking, climbing, cycling, running, etc. The app will consume just 1% of your overall battery. This app will monitor your sleep and will record words spoken in your sleep.

When will MIUI 12 be released?

Earlier, Xiaomi announced MIUI 12 globally on May 19, 2020. However, the beta version released in China on April 27, 2020. A stable MIUI 12 version will get released in India on June 19, 2020. Many devices have already started getting the updates.
